Stargazing events in Northamptonshire with the BBC

BBC Northamptonshire have teamed up with astronomy experts in the county for a series of stargazing events to accompany the BBC Two series with Brian Cox and Dara O’Briain.

The programme features three different celestial phenomena: The rare alignment of Jupiter and Uranus, the Quadrantid meteor shower and a crescent shaped sunrise to be shown live on BBC 2 on the 3/4/5 January 2011.

Wednesday 5 January 2011

Come to Brixworth Country Park to gaze at the stars with the Northamptonshire Natural History Society. They will describe the main constellations visible through their telescopes.

Friday 7 January 2011

Join the Nene Valley Astronomical society as they view beautiful constellations through a series of telescopes. They will also show a series of short multi media presentations.

Monday 10 January 2011

The Northamptonshire Natural History Society will host a short slide presentation on sky objects visible on 10 January. They will also have a trip to a nearby clear sky site for some practical observing.

The Nene Valley Astronomical society will be viewing constellations through a series of telescopes.
